Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 800 cities in 120 countries.

Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.

The NCMEA Conference takes over downtown Winston-Salem for 3 ½ days of sessions, clinics and concerts scheduled in the Benton Convention Center, the Embassy Suites, the Marriott and Stevens Center. 

The more than 1,500 attendees are music educators that teach K-12 as well as at the college/university level. We also have several hundred collegiate members attend. This number does not include the students that hail from all over North Carolina that won auditions for a place in of the NCMEA Honors Ensembles: Elementary Honors Chorus, Middle School Honors Chorus, High School Honors Chorus and Honors Orchestra. Each NCMEA Section also invites middle school and high school ensembles from around the State that showcase the best in band, choral, jazz and orchestra music.

NCMEA Conference also hosts a music industry trade show with more than 100 vendors. Exhibitors include nationally known instrument companies and music publishers as well as vendors from North Carolina. Our attendees can also visit with representatives from many North Carolina college and university music departments.

What began in 1946 as 120 music directors meeting for six hours in a Chicago YWCA gym has now become the annual four-day music band and orchestra conference known as The Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference. For over 70 years, musicians, educators and people passionate about music education of all skill levels have gathered in Chicago for the largest music conference of its kind. 

The Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference offers guests interested in music education an array of clinics and exhibits, as well as access to music and teaching icons. The conference will also focus on industry trends and future topics in business and music education. With more than 18,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 30 countries, The Midwest Clinic offers music educators and musicians alike an unmatched networking opportunity.

The FMEA Professional Development Conference is one of the largest music education professional development events in the United States. In addition to approximately 250 clinic sessions and concerts, it is host to 22 All-State Ensembles featuring Florida's top Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Guitar, and Elementary Orff students conducted by world-class conductors and teachers. It is attended by more than 10,000 people, including secondary music directors, elementary music teachers, music supervisors, college students, college music teachers, school administrators, K-12 students performing in the All-State ensembles, students and professional musicians performing with invited performing ensembles, exhibitors, and parents of performing students.
